What is famous about Inverness is that it offers something to everybody who chooses to come here. And this famous notion is one of the main reasons people come here to spend the time! Tourists come here and enjoy climbing the hills, riding bikes; water rafting and many more things that bind them here for more and more time.


Inverness is basically a commercial and tourist city, and is situated at the mouth of the River Ness in the Moray Firth. The city of Inverness is utmost par with the Scottish beauty that is makes this place a famous tourist spot. The site is laden with fresh vegetables, green trees, and all other type of seafood that you can relish. There are many places in Inverness to visit around and the city also has a tremendously beautiful coastline where you can enjoy the boat ride and watch the dolphins playing the aquatic games.

There are approximately 220,000 people living in the Highlands and Western Isles. This region is larger than Wales, and Inverness alone makes around 25% of the population. Climate of Inverness
The climate of the city is very good, as due to the abundance of nature, the weather is pleasing and conducive for a good health. However, like all other cities of Scotland, you can not predict the correct weather of the city for all times. There may be chances that the rain is pouring down and at once, you may see the sun blazing away and rendering the green sights ornamental golden with the dew drops reflecting the light as never before! However, springtime is the best time to visit this place, and if you are coming here in winters, you are advised to pack your luggage with warm clothes and other protective materials like umbrellas, etc.

Inverness Transportation
It is very famous about the city that you will feel away from the terrific sites of jammed traffic and ear-tearing noise of horns, and feel comfortable to be here! But to get here is easy and there is absolutely no problem in landing into this beautiful place of Scotland.

Air travel
The city has international airport, which serves the means for tourists coming from far off countries of Europe. International and domestic flights are frequent and you will face no problem at all to come here by air.

Train travel
It is also easy to reach the city to come from other major cities of United Kingdom like London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, if you choose to travel by train. You can enjoy the travel and the beauty of country and relax while travelling in the train.

If you come from London, you can also avail to the facility of Sleeper class and enjoy the travel in train while lying peacefully on your seat.

Local transportation
The city offers a cool atmosphere and you can hire inexpensive buses and taxis to move around. However, owing much to the compactness of the city area, you can also choose to go around by foot and enjoy the area. But the choice mainly depends upon your ability to walk and sustain the tiredness!

Places of Interest in Inverness
The beautiful greenery and the coastline of the city offer much to see around, but there are also some tourist spots that you can tread to and enjoy the past of the country. Some of these spots are listed below:

Inverness Castle and Flora Macdonald Statue
This spot is photogenic and have been clicked so many times that one doubts its birth, which was in 1830. The castle is used as a Court-House. Must visit site to get the firsthand experience of the historic background of the city!

St Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral
This Cathedral is located on West Bank of the River Ness and was completed in 1874. The main feature of the cathedral is the set of eleven bells-the weight of these singles bells is a ton. Awesome is majesty and grandeur!

Caledonian Canal
If you move to the Western parts of the city, the Caledonian Canal is situated. This canal was created during the period of 1803-22 and the design engineer of the canal was Thomas Telford. A wonderful place to visit and know about the engineering aspects of the city.

Tomnahurich Cemetery
This cemetery is situated near the Tomnahurich Bridge over the Caledonian Canal and its beauty is described by the words-the most spectacular cemetery in Scotland! You may not like to visit this place due to its functionality, but will like to go to see the beauty around the area.

Cromwell's Fort
When you move away from certain places of interest in the center of the city, you can visit the Cromwell Fort, which was built by Oliver Cromwell in 1653 to house 1,000 men. The monument gives ample signs of rich history and of the city and is a wonderful place to visit for the tourists.

Museum and Art Gallery
You can find this museum and art gallery very close to the Tourist Information Center, and you will enjoy the visit here. The museum is the house for fragments of Pictish symbol stones, Highland weapons, fossils and paintings of Inverness as it was, and you will get the complete picture of Inverness before your eyes.

Inverness Aquadrome and Sports Center
There are many modern sports and recreational facilities in the city of Inverness and this sports center is one of them. This park has a leisure pool with flumes and waves, a traditional 25-metre swimming pool and two sports halls, so you can enjoy visiting this place a lot, and if you are tired roaming around the city, spend some time here and you will feel refreshed as never before.

Eden Court Theatre
This theatre is one of its kinds and you can enjoy being here. There are music concerts, dramas, and everything from modern films to traditional dance items-you will feel simply elated to be here.

Bellfield Park
If you move to the opposite side of the River Ness, you can find this beautiful place Bellfield Park. The floral display and the greenery here is worth visiting and there are number of other activities for you-bowling, tennis, and many sports for children's play.
